NOTE this blogsite "About Aafia" which declares a major reason for seeking to support this cause since there has been so much palpable outrage among decent Pakistanis and media over this one case of imprisonoment of this one woman - perhaps more than over any other:

Recap: US was the only foreign country whose representative attended the birth of Pakistan on August 15, 1947. The Case of Dr. Aafia Siddiqui appears as an epitome of entangled issues which seem to threaten this proverbial alliance, and hence also prospects of peace in the region. This blog is about SAVING A BRIDGE.

Another understood reason (which bears much repeating) is also that we support and mercy, aid and truth for victims of systems gone haywire as well as their children and families: here

  1. Thanks. Responding to the last lines of your post I can say: "This is my song."

After reading those beautiful lyrics in your other post, I was reminded of a similar poem in Urdu which was extremely popular in my childhood (possibly inspired from 'This Is My Song'). Translation:

People are unqiue, but aspriation is one and the same:
We all look different but blood is of the same hue.

The whole universe is created with the essence of Love,
Ask your heart if you do not believe me,
For the tune and melody of all inner voices is the same.

That every soul is to be held in high esteem,
Hearts should be free of hate, and everybody respected,
In this war to attain that respect, we are all on the same side.

Even today I am hearing that song in every city and town,
Which can enchant even this indifferent and cruel world,
Each and every song coming forth is striking the same note.

  2. Exquisite poem on EVERY level which "rounds out" the inner meaning of "This is My Song"...

Our mutual song and that of many of our readers here...

I would love to memorize the Poem-Gift you gave us here in both English and Urdu. Would you sometime place the Urdu in a Comment as well in both English alphabet and Script will you?

No hurry...thank you for taking the time to Comment.
