How Spring enlightens endless Love

Weeping Cherry Tree

"Beautiful light is born of darkness, so the faith that springs from conflict is often the strongest and the best." —R Turnbull

A light exists in spring
Not present on the year
At any other period.
When March is scarcely here
A color stands abroad
On solitary hills
That science cannot overtake,
But human nature feels...
(Emily Dickinson)

Pied Beauty

Glory be to God for dappled things -
for skies of couple-colour as a brinded cow;
For rose-moles all in stipple upon trout that swim;
Fresh-firecoal chestnut-falls; finches' wings;
Landscape plotted and pieced - fol, fallow, and plough;
And áll trádes, their gear and tackle trim.

All things counter, original, spare, strange;
Whatever is fickle, freckled (who knows how?)
With swift, slow; sweet, sour; adazzle, dim;
He fathers-forth whose beauty is past change: Praise Him.
(Gerard Manley Hopkins 1844-1889)

A Rumi Invocation...

Praise be to Thee, the One and Only God,
The Creator and Sustainer of our lives.
Thee do we praise, and Thee we give thanks.
Thou art the First Cause and the Last Effect,
And Thou art the Owner of the Most Beautiful Names.
The Most Compassionate, the only Guide...
Within Thee is the Matrix of Life...

We pray that the Beauty of Thy Names in the Heavenly spheres
May sound the same beauty here on earth,
And lighten our hearths with Thy Wisdom,
Thy Power, Thy Glory and Thy Peace...

"There are two kinds of light--the glow that illumines, and the glare that obscures." —James Thurber on Light

...What do you know of furnaces?
This is a sun that returns
again and again, refining, igniting,
pouring your spirit
through a cloth of delicate gold
until all dross is taken
and you are sweet as
clarified butter
in god’s mouth.

— from A Cloth of Fine Gold: Poems of the Inner Journey, by Dorothy Walters

From the moment you were born,
Your death has walked beside you...

...gather yourself
And decide carefully
How you now can live
The life you would love
To look back on
From your deathbed.
(by John O'Donohue)

For lovers, the only lecturer is the beauty of the Beloved;
their only book and lecture and lesson is the Face.
They are silent outwardly,
but their penetrating remembrance rises
to the high throne of their Friend.
Their only lesson is enthusiasm, whirling, and trembling,
not the fine points of jurisprudence.
[III, 3847-9] from the Mevlani by Rumi

That which God said to the rose,
and caused it to laugh in full-blown beauty,
He said to my heart,
and made it a hundred times more beautiful.
[III, 4129] Mevlani

Rumi on why we should persevere with love's light:

The light of the senses and spirit of our fathers
is not totally perishable like the grass,
but, like the stars and moonbeams,
they vanish in the radiance of the Sun.

Those persons then, who have passed from the world
are not non-existent, but they are absorbed in the attributes of God,
even as the star disappears in the presence of the sun.
[IV, 432-3;435-43]

"In the dark a glimmering light is often sufficient for the pilot to find the polar star and to fix his course. " —Metastasio on Light

"More light!..."Where there is much light, the shadows are deepest. " —Johann Wolfgang Von Goethe on Light

Rumi:
My soul is from elsewhere, I'm sure of that,
And I intend to end up there.
