Comfort for Laila's Cry

This post is especially for Laila Yaghi...

the poem below is from a book of her original poetry:

"Cries from a Mother's Heart".

Laila explemplifies these words of wisdom by Mother Teresa and calls for the same - even through her own tears. She cares for those who suffer like she does. Like many other Muslims - yes, even in our "democratic" USA - she suffers daily - while her loved one faces unknown prison misery and time for a fabricated crime.

"If you judge people, you have no time to love them."

"People are often unreasonable and self-centered. Forgive them anyway.
If you are kind, people may accuse you of ulterior motives. Be kind anyway.
If you are honest, people may cheat you. Be honest anyway.
If you find happiness, people may be jealous. Be happy anyway.
The good you do today may be forgotten tomorrow. Do good anyway.
Give the world the best you have and it may never be enough. Give your best anyway.
For you see, in the end, it is between you and God. It was never between you and them anyway."

— Mother Teresa

The following is a touching poem written by Laila and published in a booklet called:
"Cries from a Mother's Heart"

ALAS IT IS TIME FOR THE SUN TO REVERSE ITS COURSE

Alas it is time for the sun to reverse its course
Injustice has become great in this world
Tears of women and children are scattered
Everywhere on our cracked soil
Carried by the wind
Creating hurricanes wherever one goes
Too many tears for the earth to absorb
Creating flood watches wherever one goes

Alas it is time for the sun to reverse its course
Creating rays of black tears
That drop like fiery coals onto
Our greedy heads

Alas it is time for the sun to reverse its course
And for the moon to be silent
Not to tilt its head anymore
With a smile that encourages humans to do more
Of crime against humanity
Of lies and deceit
Of greed
Of hate against one from a different religion

Alas it is time for the sun to reverse its course

========
My heart is so small
it's almost invisible.
How can You place
such big sorrows in it?

"Look," He answered,
"your eyes are even smaller,
yet they behold the world."

~ Rumi ~

While there is no mere human comfort for Laila's deep sorrow - may we pray that Love among us all will find a way...

More about her son Ziyad soon...

  1. I received a touching note of gratitude from Laila and hope to work with her to share more of her concerns when the time is right.
