Like a rain-cloud of July
hung low with its burden of unshed showers
let all my mind bend down at thy door in one salutation to thee.
Let all my songs gather together their diverse strains into a single current
and flow to a sea of silence in one salutation to thee.
Like a flock of homesick cranes flying night and day
back to their mountain nests
let all my life take its voyage to its eternal home

Remarkable simplicity!
Claude Monet’s painting “sunrise” might not be as famous as the Leonardo da Vinci’s La Gioconda (Mona Lisa) but is as mysterious and as engaging as is the famous one.
so glad you also like impressionists and appreciated the Salutation...do you have any paintings similar in theme or style on photo?
years ago when i first ventured beyond my own youthful religious perimeters and loved poetry since earlier than 12 years i found tagore. i realize much of his poetry is out of date with current styles & even to me now feel too flowery & like needing a really competent editor...
still & yet i find gems like no other poet among his work...
for one thing, he does have a way of bridging between the erudite, rigid theologian and the speaker of God/god/Spirit/Common or Ultimate Reality as everything...because he give specifics in his interaction with this Reality which involves the personal as well as the universal...
and the moments which take one's breath away...

Thanx for letting me know you liked this post. I do a lot of human rights and serious peace items yet am always returning to the artists/the poets and the contemplatives.
