Subj: Response to ICE raid in Asheville

Dear Friends,

On August 12, 2008, 57 Latino workers were arrested by agents of US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) at Mills Manufacturing Corporation in Asheville, NC on charges related to immigration violations. This was the largest raid ever in North Carolina. (See the Fact Sheet just below for more information about the raid.)

The workers and their families are devastated and traumatized. A community network coordinated by Nuestro Centro, a local Latino center, is organizing support for the workers and their families. These families are facing a very difficult time and they have many needs. If you would like to get involved or simply learn more, contact Paul Castelloe at paul@cpcwnc.org or (828) 255-2987.

Gratefully,
-Chris
