Why does a Nobel Peace Prize Laureate fumble on landmines?

here

Show Obama the consequences of his actions - send photos of landmine victims
Call on Barack Obama to re-think his decision and give a clear NO to landmines by signing the Ottawa convention!

The Current Administration holds on to the politics of his predecessor
George W. Bush:

On Nov. 24th, 2009 the State Department announced that the US will not sign the international treaty banning landmines.

Landmines kill, shred arms and legs..... and about 30% of the victims of landmines are children who step on these mines while playing.

Can a Nobel Peace Prize laureate really want this? We call on Barack Obama to re-think his decision and give a clear NO to landmines by signing the Ottawa convention!

On Nov. 25th the Administration announced that the US changed its stance on landmines and will review its landmines policy. This is an important step.

As it is important to show support for a ban of landmines, we ask for your help.

This is what we ask YOU to do:

Show Mr. Obama the consequences of not banning landmines. Print out a large photo of a landmine victim and write "Please make sure this will never happen again, Mr. Obama!" on it in capital letters. You might want to add an additional line asking the US government to sign and ratify the Ottawa convention. Please don't forget to add your address and signature. Then send it off to the White House in Washington, DC.

Address:

President Barack Obama
The White House
1600 Pennsylvania Avenue NW
Washington, DC 20500
USA

Also please don’t forget to spread word about this cause!

Thank you!

Actually, Connie, the White House says they're still reviewing the policy:

"The Administration's decision to attend this Review Conference is the result of an on-going comprehensive review of U.S. landmine policy initiated at the direction of President Obama."
