See this one especially at Democracy Now for a short up-to-date summary by Glenn Greenwald who may have been studying the NDAA most intensely since the national debate has begun -- GO here

Quote of the evening came from County Commissioner Sallie Clark: "I don't usually agree with the ACLU, but today I do."

I will need lots more reflecting and study time to sort out all the responses to the passing and signing of the NDAA but I wanted to record this one...although one or two of the persons quoted may themselves be worrisome in other areas - this may add to the whole at least in part?

Here's the other article by this legal expert posted here -- this one's from the 15th:

Others are saying we should NOT just stop and give up that we NEED to get on the phone FAST:
call your Senator and your Congressperson AGAIN to tell them to get rid of that Defense Authorization bill NOW!
I found this at war is a crime dot org:
Quite a few experts claim that The "Defense Authorization" bill puts $600 billion more into the military, impedes nuclear disarmament, builds more nuclear plants despite the fact that they all leak, funds huge production of robotic weapons…known as drones, and not only prevents transfers out of Guantanamo -- It re-activates the hell hole.
HR 1540 may be one or the worst bills ever BECAUSE of Section 1034 which according to quite a few may well give presidents limitless power to make wars and to lock people in prison--and that undoes the War Powers Act, the Constitution, and the Declaration of Independence and gives Presidents the power to declare anyone a terrorist, including citizens and more...
Sounds like the Democratic Senator from Michigan Carl Levin and his buddy Republican Senator John McCain came up with this version Defense Authorization Act.
Some find that in one fell swoop Congress (& now evidently Obama with his approval signature) did what the nightmare Bush-Cheney were unable to do in 8 years.
SO WE MUST CALL...
why not people all over the world call too? ALL of us are affected...
