Dr. Siddiqui: A Plea for Mercy & The Truth

Blogger Connie L. Nash said...

IF you are doing research about this case or delving into the story in any deep way, you may find many who are ready to ignore this case because there are so many others - yet - beware and be aware...

We in the US may still have friends in Pakistan and across the Muslim world who like you & I want freedom, education and rights both personally & publically for all women - both in domestic situations and in response from both the USA and Pakistan's official leaders.

IF Dr. Siddiqui, has in fact, participated in evils, then she, perhaps may need some de-programming and/or some really compassionate psychiatric help...

Yet, there is as yet so little proof of anything--nearly no facts at all...

IF we, across the world ignore Dr. Aafia's horrendous situation, we, in essence, are ignoring the powerless state of many other young and older women across the globe--

We would be deaf to the strong silent plea for the women of the world for education...

For the kind of education which doesn't lead to such a state of distress and confinement and confusing if not false accusations...

We in the USA, in Pakistan and around the globe need to model, empower and discuss ways women in Afghanistan, Iraq, Pakistan, America, Syria, Ethiopia, the Congo and around the world will at last be able to follow their dreams, beliefs, religion, chosen fields and be able to perform acts of charity as Aafia did so diligently (with the poorest of the poor and with the prisoners) without such an ugly end...

The end as well as the true beginning of this story--Dr. Aafia Siddiqui's story-- is yet to be understood--if it ever will be.

Yet we in human rights reporting need to question everything in the media, and many blogs as well-- everything...supposed letters from her husband and relatives??? (Some well-meaning, some not, perhaps?)

Are several of Aafia's relatives as guilty as she IF anyone is proven to be so?

Has the actual ex-husband written what he's written out of his own clear mind or by some coercion, personal vendetta toward Aafia's family or via a "deal" with powerful people? If Aafia's ex is NOT guilty then why is Aafia the scapegoat?

If any family members are publicizing items which should remain only personal - why? And how is this to help the children or themselves?

I would plead that Aafia is not improved -- nor will the children be -- by any more pain at such a time as this...

At any rate, we in the community of human rights are doing both Dr. Siddiqui and other women a favor by being careful with our facts and caring about one woman who may well have been abused by many many men and a few women who listen to them...and perhaps cared for by a few distinct others.

Those of us who've been jarred and found our heart and soul reaching out to Aafia, must not give up...

Watch this weblog for an action to be composed soon after the result of the expected December 17th hearing is publicized...(If it is)

Perhaps you may consider writing the US Dept of Justice /and or the national or state of New York FBI (and/or to the lawyers with request that they send the petitions to the right persons) and to ask for transparency, accuracy and fairnesss...and that no matter whether or not Dr. Siddiqui is considered guilty in any way, that she be treated as one who is innocent until PROVEN otherwise in a fair and just court of law.

Also, that no manner of neglect, torture or other inhumane treatment be allowed ever not matter what...

Consider as well a letter to Aafia for her encouragement...to let her know there are quite a few in this world who care deeply about her plight.

You may write it here in the comment section if you'd like & I'd be glad to send it to her lawyer(s) for you if you wish to remain anonymous...

Keep checking back...
