Pakistani Court orders arrest of second US consular employee

Pakistan orders arrest of second US consular worker ABC news

A Pakistani court has ordered the arrest of a second US consular employee following the fatal shooting of two men in Lahore.

Consular official Raymond Davis was arrested last month for shooting two men who he says were trying to rob him.

A third man was run over by another official who was sent to pick up Mr Davis.

Lahore politician Ejaz Chaudhry says Pakistan will never bow to US demands to release him because of his apparent diplomatic immunity.

"He is a killer. He is a cold-blooded murderer and the people of Pakistan are very clear about this issue," he said.

"They know Raymond is a spy. He is a terrorist here in Pakistan. And he must be penalised in Pakistan."

Certainly, American citizens should add their outrage to the arrogance assumed in the Raymond Davis case. Even strategically, Obama/Kerry/Clinton's position is all wrong and headed up a most dangerous path. Even the Wash Post had an Op Ed indicating grave concern with the current US course of action on Friday. (See posts below on this blogsite.)

Add to reasons for US citizen outrage: the ongoing US denial of torture - of rendition - and of the worldwide Gulag of torture cells, the drones in Pakistan/Afghanistan and once at least in Yemen.

To this list of abuses and the need for a nonviolent uprise, add the American lack of humility in dealing even with named allies, and inadequate trial and charging (or lack of the same) for those arrested and imprisoned for supposed acts of terror.

Already, there is an uprising as expected among workers and students from across Wisconsin gathered this week to protest Gov. Scott Walker's budget repair bill at the Capitol, 02/16/11.

Thursday, February 17, marked the third day of protests growing by thousands each day, in which workers and students from across the state have gathered in Madison, Wisconsin, outside and inside the Capitol building in opposition to Gov. Scott Walker's budget repair bill. -- CW/RSN
