Aafia O Aafia: A Poem by Fauzia Siddiqui (Aafia's Sister)

Aafia O Aafia

What is your destiny

I do not understand

A Muslim woman you are

A mother, daughter, sister too

Your kids embrace you so miss

Your mother sister brother too

Aafia O Aafia

What is your destiny I do not understand

Education was your passion

Helping poor and needy too

Quran was your true love

Humanity and humility too

Aafia O Aafia

What is your destiny I do not understand

Tortured mercilessly you were

Stripped and abused too

A victim of the war on terror

Open and Secret brutality too

Aafia O Aafia

What is your destiny, I do not understand

An icon of innocence

Determination and purity too

A woman so Nobel

A hero and nations pride too

Aafia O Aafia

What is your destiny, I do not understand

But this I surely know

Like Mandela, innocent you are too

If you are a terrorist

So is every humanitarian activist too.

Aafia O Aafia

What is your destiny?

I do not understand!

As i read its every line, tears gathered in eyes and finally rolled down over my cheeks..
we are at such a state that how we dont know what to pray for Afia.even if she is released she will be too sick to enjoy life!
i just hope that may all others remain safe from such a tragedy..

Hello dear ReeBz! Yes, I do so feel the way you do. Of course you may use anything on my blogsite on your's.

What is given to us is to do the best we can and while we continue to pray for healing to be also concerned to heal the structures of our societies so that others don't have to suffer in like manner.

If you have time read what you are able both on my blogsite and elsewhere and send me suggestions:

newlease7@yahoo.com (I'm not doing facebook at this time - too busy on this case and leaving it quiet on facebook for another day may be best but I'm not sure - is my intuition.)
