One Hand to Touch Jerusalem

- Another to Touch the Rhine

Here's a little something to try to break through the cacophony of the world's despair and once again resume the task of loving all humanity with each our own truest soul. This post is put together like a giant prayer for the One Human Heart.

Allama Iqbal:
Many a poet was born after his death,
Opened our eyes when his own were closed,
And journeyed forth again from nothingness,
Like roses blossoming o'er the earth of his grave.

Meister Eckhart (1260-1328) a monk and a scholar who said February 1327 that he had always believed God was as God said He was --Indivisible.

When were you last really happy?
Let that experience ferment,
bring it to mind once in awhile...

Echart poetry beginning with his: JERUSALEM
A hand in my soul can reach out and touch Jerusalem
as my other hand tastes the beauty of the Rhine...

The hills, valleys, beasts, vineyards and sacred meadows...shall pass and ASCEND...
for all crowds the soul but the infinite.
ASCENDERS to God we are.*
Look though how we enrich this planet with our melting organic shadows...
What a womb God has...to have given birth to all you can imagine,
And all you cannot conceive. All language has taken an oath to fail to describe Him; Any attempt to do so is the height of arrogance and will always declare some kind of war: the inner ones and the outer. The awakened heart is like a luminous sphere...
When we cannot be who we are our divine senses become mute,
mute and sick from the insanity of judging what He made Immaculate.

We are a swimming galaxy tonight.
Angels prowl around us hoping we will toss them a fresh piece of light --
Here dears, here, our sacks are full.

Universes rent space from us and oceans are drawn from our well. How can that be?
For we can touch Jerusalem while our other hand tastes the beauty of the Rhine..

THE SPIRIT'S HANDS

They can be a great help -- words.
They can become the spirit's hands
giving life and caressing you.

HOW THEN CAN WE ARGUE?

Humbly I asked an ant: "Have you ever been to Paris?"
And he replied, "No, but I wouldn't mind going."
And then he asked me if I had ever been to a famous ant city.
I said, "I wouldn't mind, too!"

I concluded: There is life of which we do not know.
What percent of space is this earth in the infinite realm?
What percent of time is one second in eternity?
Less than that is our knowledge of God. How then can we ever argue about Him?

ST. THOMAS AQUINAS (1225-1274): From ON BEHALF OF LOVE
God said, "As exquisite as is your world, most everyone in it is spiritually young.
Spirituality is love, and love never wars with the minute, the day,
one's self and others. Love would rather die than maim a limb, a wing.
Dear, anything that divides people from people,
earth from sky, light and dark, one religion from another...
Oh, I best keep silent, I see a child just entered the room."

Our hearts irrigate this earth...we are fields before each other...
How can we live in harmony? First we need to know we are all madly in love with the same God.

For behind all imperialism is ultimately the imperialistic individual, just as behind all peace is ultimately the peaceful individual. Irving Babbitt

Ending with the following from ALLAMA IQBAL's last Urdu Poem in Translation:
THE HUMAN BEING: Nothing may stay hidden for this universe is made of light...
Where lies the limit of my unending adventures?

Peace cannot be achieved through violence, it can only be attained through understanding. Ralph Waldo Emerson

For The Republic of Rumi - which daily lives out understanding

The other day I was reading about an exceptional French philosopher and paleontologist Pierre de Chardon Theilhard (1881-1955) and loved his view about ‘cosmic love”. He says” the history of spirit will at last, after billions of years of efforts, have achieved its final goal. This goal, this point of unity up ahead, is Omega. It is the exalted destiny for which we are today responsible, even if it still lies at a considerable distance from us. The goal is there and the means to achieve is an all embracing COSMIC LOVE which simultaneously personalizes as it socializes. Nothing less than such a universal love can bring the vast evolutionary development of the world to a successful conclusion.”

Akhtar Sahib, tell us more about Omega. How many more billions of years will this take? I was hoping we were closer. How might we each and all have the tenacity and faithfulness as well as community to do each the most we can for this goal within our own capacity and calling?

I am one with this goal and path which personalizes as it socializes.

Universal love today would appear as a mirage, fraudulent hope, a waste of time or only wishful thinking and yet look at all the seers, the prophets, the poets and visionaries from each and every legitimate tradition in which people have ever flourished...don't they agree on some version that WILL BE of Cosmic Love?

Thank you for taking the time to stop by here and add your loving vision.

Universal love which may seem a mirage today, a distant goal, a fraudulent hope for many but in this ever expanding universal, which in itself is the reminder that evolutionary process is still on and hence the time for retribution, amend and ultimate glory is still a grasp away, knowledge cannot go in any other way but the way to which it can go. Like the loveable Meister Eckhart said “knowledge is no particular thought but rather it peels off (all coverings) and is disinterested and runs naked to God, until it touches him and grasps him.”

Again and again you teach me what a careful student should have known before even doing such a post. Since I too often go where angels and scholars fear to tread, it's a great benefit to have you fill in the empty places with your own unique sort of humility with dignity - teaching me all the while. This time you also strenghthened my own deep faith which sometimes is so weary and impatient with all the warring these days.

With Deepest Glad Gratitude!
