The new york times has badly reported this trial which is followed around the world. In its approach, the Times is colluding with the secret prison system, which is what should be on trial here. Every article should be alluding to the mystery of where Aafia Siddiqui was for all that tme. Not to do so– as in most reporting up to now– is absolutely orwellian.
If there are reasons (materials witness reasons) she was held this should be made clear and asssessed. But our government should not be in the business of holding hostages. Nor should media collude in the Big Lie– or we will not believe anything you say. Alas, that is almost the case now and we all believe only want we want to believe..
Was this piece even published in the paper edition? I do not believe so.
